Point Reyes - June 26 - 28, 2007

See the Point Reyes, California photo gallery here.

Driving north from Monterey, we grabbed some fresh cherries and garlic from Gilroy, the garlic capital of the world.

Skirting the west edge of San Jose and Palo Alto we drove across the Golden Gate Bridge. We could not see the top of the bridge in the fog and wind, but that did not stop thousands of people from running across the bridge. It did, however, stop us.

Escaping the fog, we hiked in Muir Woods National Monument ("...this is the best tree-lovers monument that could possibly be found in all the forests of the world" - John Muir) and then drove to the coast and up to Point Reyes Station.

We stayed at the Cottage-In-The-Woods at the Holly Tree Inn, and took day trips into the Point Reyes National Seashore to hike and picnic on the beach. Generally it was foggy and cool, but then again it is the foggiest and windiest point on the west coast.
