California

Gualala - June 28 - July 1, 2007

See the Northern California photo gallery here.

Driving north from Point Reyes Station, we traveled along the coast, in and out of fog, to our cottage outside of Gualala, near the Sea Ranch development.

From here we toured the rocky beaches, inspected tidepools and imagined that we had the knowledge to dive for abolone. A day trip up to Mendocino was the farthest north we traveled.

After four nights, we drove back up north to the Van Damme State Park for a quick hike up a fern canyon to a pygmy forest, and then out through a winding road through the Navaroo River Redwoods.

Winding through Anderson Valley wine country, we connected with US Highway 1, and south through Oakland to San Jose.
